01Why the room matters
When a room holds fear,
changing the room can matter.
For some children, a bedroom is connected to painful experiences, fear or trauma. Even when the abuse happened somewhere else, a child deserves a space that feels safe, personal and entirely their own.
Room Redux of Georgia transforms that space with intention. Every detail is selected around the child’s interests, personality and needs, creating a room filled with comfort, dignity, ownership and hope.
Room Redux does not just redesign a room. It helps a child reclaim it.

Every child gets more than a makeover.
Every transformation begins with the essentials, then becomes personal. The basics are never the finish line, they are the starting point for a room built around one child.
A new bed
The foundation of rest and of feeling settled.
A new mattress
Chosen new, never handed down.

Selected around the child’s colors and comfort.
Paint
A full reset of the walls that hold the room.
Flooring when needed
Replaced when the floor is part of the problem.
Storage
A place for belongings that belong to them.

Art, lettering and details chosen for one child.

Each room is different because each child is different. The goal is not to create a showroom. The goal is to create a room that unmistakably belongs to that child.

Lisa Lepkofker
Co-Director, Room Redux of Georgia
Stephanie Engelerdt and Lisa Lepkofker co-lead every part of Room Redux of Georgia. They share responsibility for the mission, the decisions and every transformation.
Their individual strengths may show up differently across strategy, fundraising, visibility, community relationships, design, sourcing and execution, but the work is never divided into separate lanes. Together, they bring the vision, resourcefulness and determination required to move each room from referral to reveal.

When a donated item doesn’t fit the room, it can still help fund one.
SELL Co. is a separate local nonprofit that accepts quality donated goods and resells appropriate items. Its resale proceeds and monetary gifts can help fund Room Redux of Georgia transformations. Room Redux of Georgia is currently SELL Co.’s primary funding focus.
08 / Beyond the bedroom
The mission can reach a shared space too.
At Bald Ridge Lodge, RRGA applied the same thoughtful, personalized approach used in a child’s bedroom to a main living space serving multiple residents and staff. The result included theater seating, new televisions, an eight-person gaming workstation and a place designed for connection.
